From its early beginnings, Block 46 has been a mixed use parcel of the downtown core of Whitefish. At one time the Whitefish Pilot was located on Block 46, Ida Kruger ran a boarding house for railroad workers, Stacey Oil Texaco and H Earl Klack operated gas stations, and residents occupied several single family homes adjacent to the commercial areas. Beginning with the purchase of the Stacey Oil site, Great Northern Ventures negotiated the purchase of the other properties in Block 46 with the intention of remediating the site, removing and recycling some of the houses on the property, and restoring the Block to mixed use buildings providing a vibrant and welcoming entrance to downtown Whitefish.
